Promotion of Education Link Organization (PELO) is a child- centered non-government organization founded in 1998 and registered 2000 under Societies Act. In 2011 the organization complied with Non- Government Act No. 24 of 2002 with a status of implementing its activities in Tanzania mainland.
PELO is a membership organization which is governed by two organs, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Executive Committee whereby AGM is a highest decision organ and the Executive Committee oversees the day-to-day operation of the Secretariat and support functioning of Secretariat through two working groups thus Stakeholders’ Engagement Working Group (SEWG) and Child Protection Working Group (CPWG). Each of the working groups include one staff as a convener, two members from among the members of the executive committee, one ordinary member of the organization and one external expert who is appointed by the Executive committee.
SEWG has a role of ensuring compliance of PELO’s operations with legal and regulatory requirements at local level and facilitate community mobilization. CPWG has a role of ensuring child protection initiatives of PELO reinforce the protections guaranteed in National Strategy on ending child violence, conventions on the Rights of a Child (CRC), and Sustainable Development Goals.
PELO envision Tanzania of which all children realize their full potential in communities which respect people’s rights and dignities. Its mission is striving to achieve improvements in quality of life of deprived children in Tanzania through a process that unites people across cultures and adds value by enabling deprived children to live the life that is assured of their rights for them to realize their dreams.
